Where the Money Goes
What is the Young Women's Breast Cancer Foundation?
Many young women are under the impression they are not at risk for breast cancer yet nearly 12% of all cases diagnosed this year will be women under 45 years of age.
The mission of the foundation is to educate as many people as we can about breast cancer in women under 45. We also aim to educate and support younger women with a diagnosis.
Our goal is to join together the talent in the Pittsburgh area to create a full day seminar about breast cancer. We also understand the importance of emotional support for breast cancer patients. We will be working with Magee Womens Research Institute over the next three years to study the benefits of emotional support.
Our fundraising efforts have benefited the American Cancer
Society Reach to Recovery Program, Clinical trail Grants for the
American Cancer Society, Cancer Caring Center, Family House and Magee
Womens Hospital Patient Navigator Program.
