Panera Bread Goes Pink!
Panera Bread and the Young Women Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation join forces to fight breast cancer and raise money. On October 7th 2008 all 27 Panera Bread locations celebrated GO PINK. Where all the locations turned pink for the day to kick off the month of October- breast cancer awareness month.
The event was sponsored by Falconi Moon Township Family of Dealerships on University Blvd (Moon Twp) where they brought two Guiding Light Soap Opera actors to Pittsburgh to kick off the event.
The day started at the Panera Bread location in Robinson Twp with a live broadcast from Star 100.7 radio Station where they interviewed the foundation, Guiding Light actors and Panera Bread about how this fabulous event began.
If you went into any of the 27 locations you would have found all employees wearing bright pink t-shirts, pink balloons and a special pink table with volunteers representing the Young Womens Breast Cancer Foundation. The volunteers provided information brochures about the foundation and the cause as well as handed out samples of their famous Pink Ribbon bagel made of brown sugar, cherry chips and vanilla.
The goal of the day was to sell the Pink ribbon bagels in support for the cause and breast cancer month. That day Panera Bread sold over 5000 pink ribbon bagels. All proceeds of the sales went to the the foundation as well as the Operation Doughnations through the month of October.
Lisa Edmonds - Executive Director of the YWBCAF said it was the most amazing day to see how many wonderful people are out there that really want to make a difference.
A special thank you goes out to Ashlee Mauti - Panera Bread Marketing Director and Covelli Enterrises for all their community support. Also John Macuga and their group from Falconi Family of Dealerships in Moon Township for their support as they too went pink that day along with the 27 locations.
It was an amazing day!
